Bruno Guimaraes’ exciting vow to Newcastle fans after yesterday’s 5-0 battering at Man City

Following a disappointing display at the Etihad, fan-favourite Bruno Guimaraes has apologised for the performance on Twitter and promised that “we’ll evolve as a team” next season.

The Brazilian was one of our better performers on the day, but ultimately, as a team, it was an poor display which highlighted the gap in quality between us and the elite – in case we didn’t already know.

However, the one positive we can take, as pointed out by the 24-year-old midfielder, is the constant and unfaltering support from Newcastle fans. Even after the hosts scored their third, all that could be heard was the familiar chant of ‘E-I-E-I-E-I-O’ belted out by the away end.

Bruno said the “unbelievable” Toon Army deserved more than to witness a 5-0 hammering, vowing that this team will evolve ahead of the new season.

You can see the tweet he posted after the game below:

With safety all but guaranteed coming into the game, many fans have already turned their attention to the summer and what will be a very interesting and important season as we plan our ‘evolution’.

  1. The team will only evolve if we get rid of the deadwood, the ones that fail to improve.
Wood misses a glorious chance provided by St Max, he has proved he can’t finish, the biggest waste of £25 million ever!
St Max will not improve he gave Cancelo the freedom of Manchester, I can’t see him ever learning to track back, you need more than the ability to be a great player and he will never get in the French team, he is just lazy.
Our fullbacks need protection and got none so the centre backs become exposed.
We were weak in midfield regards tackling and mobility.
Almiron is too lightweight and lacks an end product.
Would take Philips and Raphina in a heartbeat to replace Longstaff and Almiron it would be a serious upgrade.
Lascelles is just not good enough and Krafth can only be cover for Trippier at best.
Don’t know why they have given Dummet a new contract, should be by games played.
    Massive overhaul required.!
