Howe hints at another new deal after two in 10 days at Newcastle United

Manager Eddie Howe is confident Sean Longstaff will be the latest Mag to sign a new deal following contract renewals for both Paul Dummett and Fabian Schar over the past 10 days.

The 44-year-old revealed that discussions are “moving quite well” and suggests that the academy graduate will certainly have a role to play in what will be an important season next year.

Longstaff appears to have fallen down the pecking order over the past six months, with Joelinton, Joe Willock, Jonjo Shelvey and Bruno Guimaraes often preferred to the 24-year-old.

However, Howe clearly rates his talents, handing him a start at Man City yesterday and often talking up as a player who remains part of his plans

Speaking at his press conference, Howe had this to say when asked for an update on his future:

“I hope we can get a positive resolution with Sean.

“Hopefully, that one’s moving quite well – and in the right direction.

“But, obviously, until he’s signed the contract, I can’t say for definite.”
