NUFC spotted scouting Premier League winger and send warning to long term target – Report

As reported by The Chronicle, Newcastle have had scouts watching Watford star Ismaila Sarr – but could walk away from a move for Jesse Lingard if the soon-to-be free agent demands huge money.

With the Hornets officially relegated on Saturday, Sarr is said to be keen on remaining in the top-flight and his wages – currently a reported £65,000 a week – would be well within our budget.

As for Lingard, Lee Ryder reveals that the 29-year-old runs the risk of pricing himself out of a move to St James’ Park if his wage demands rocket.

He’s believed to earn £100,000 at present, however Newcastle could be put off and decide to look elsewhere if he takes advantage of his Bosman status and expects to become the club’s highest earner at around £150,000-per-week.

The Chronicle insist that we will continue to pursue players who can work within our wage structure, suggesting any superstar names demanding silly money will be non-starters.

Looking at the financial issues around Everton and the amount they had previously spent on ‘big names’, you can’t argue with the new owners taking a more sensible and pragmatic approach to developing our future.

  1. No one in their right mind would touch any player coming from that Man Utd dressing room and that includes Lingard. I’d rather Minamino, Sarr, or Toney.

  2. Who are these mysterious Newcastle scouts who are never named and never photographed?
