Newcastle ‘rejected’ by Premier League striker as player agrees bargain move elsewhere – Report

According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, Newcastle have attempted to hijack Divock Origi’s proposed move to AC Milan – but the player has rejected a move to St James’ Park.

The Belgian international had been flirting with a move to the Italian giants for some time now with his contract at Liverpool set to expire in the summer.

That deal now looks set to be completed and announced in the next few weeks as the forward has refused to enter any kind of discussions with Newcastle following reported talks with AC Milan director Paulo Maldini.

With it widely reported that we’re in the market for at least one new striker this summer, the 27-year-old could’ve been a brilliant signing – he is Premier League proven and a bargain on a free transfer – but reports in Italy claim he’s already agreed a deal with the Serie A leaders worth £65,000-per-week.

With crucial goals in key moments that will go down in Liverpool history, Origi has been granted ‘legendary’ status by manager Jurgen Klopp and no doubt would have been a great signing at St James’ Park if we had gone in earlier.
