“Ah, Lucas Paqueta! He is my brother, my best friend and I really get on with him.” This was Bruno Guimaraes’ response when asked by The Chronicle who he’d like to see Newcastle sign this summer.
A few weeks on, Eddie Howe has now been asked if he’d listen to transfer recommendations from players within the squad, referring to Paqueta himself in his response – a player Bruno knows very well from their time together at Lyon.
Speaking in yesterday’s press conference, the NUFC boss admits he’s always open to any suggestions, but would have to go through the thorough process of scouting and analysing said player before any serious move could be made.
That said, it’s believed we already have previous when it comes to Paqueta, with The Chronicle reporting last month that he is someone head of recruitment Steve Nickson is well aware of.
Here’s what Howe told Newcastle World when asked about Bruno’s transfer tip:
“I have signed players from many different sources over the years.
“I’ve never cut off any recommendation from anybody. But of course, I’d have to go through the right process of watching and analysing the player to see if he’s right for the team.
“I’m aware of Bruno’s relationship, not just with Lucas Paqueta but many of his ex-players.
“Certainly, it helps to have players play at the very highest level because those relationship and opinions can be very valuable.”
