The Mail's Craig Hope has named Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Darwin Nunez, Patrik Schick, Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike as the strikers being discussed in recruitment meetings on Tyneside as Newcastle look to sign at least one striker this summer.
Due to Callum Wilson's fitness issues and Chris Wood's lack of potency, the club are eager to upgrade their goal threat in the window with an available budget of '£60-£80million' plus player sales, according to Sportsmail.
While the ambition of the owners is to compete at the very top before long, the lack of funding from commercial deals so far means 'the club will operate with caution this summer.'
In order to comply with Financial Fair Play (FFP) but also be able to spend big in the transfer market, the club must generate funds through commercial deals as well as outgoings. players have already been placed on the transfer list, but few of those are worth anything significant.
