Newcastle ‘ready to offer’ €6.5m deal to Inter Milan star set to leave on a free – Report

According to reports in Italy, Newcastle will offer a lucrative contract to Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic in a bid to sign the Croatian international on a free transfer this summer.

After seven years with the Italian giants and 102 combined goals and assists, the winger could leave for nothing next month – and Calciomercato report that we are ‘ready to offer €6.5million per year‘ to bring him to St James’ Park.

Gazzetta dello Sport have also backed up these claims, saying Newcastle are team who have ‘knocked with the most money’, leaving him with a decision to make, as these terms are said to be significantly more than what Inter are offering.

The 33-year-old scored a brace against Juventus in Wednesday’s Coppa Italia final – which Inter won 4-2 – and has played crucial role in the league as Nerazzuri look to beat local rivals AC Milan to the Serie A title.

One doubt around this potential signing would be the fact we have an ageing squad, in areas – especially after signing Dan Burn, Kieran Trippier and Chris Wood in January (all are 30 or above)

However, Perisic’s vast experience and ability to score goals from out wide is something that Newcastle have struggled with for many years now, so the Croatian could still be a quality signing and smart piece of business in the short-term.

  1. Joseph:
How many players is this we are going to sign?

Making offers and enquiries doesn’t mean we’ll definitely sign them.

We’ll have put the feelers out over a huge list of players in January but we ended up with 5, That’s how it works.
