According to i news, Newcastle United have are keeping a close eye on Chelsea talent Armando Broja in Eddie Howe’s search for new strikers this summer.
The Albanian is currently on loan at Southampton, but Mark Douglas reports that Toon scouts have been watching the 20-year-old closely during his spell at St Mary’s.
Many expected him to break into Chelsea’s first-team plans next season, but it’s been suggested that Thomas Tuchel could be willing to let go of the 6ft 3′ Albanian on a permanent deal if the right offer arrived.
He’s scored nine goals in all competitions for the Saints, having a quiet second half of the season after enjoying a hugely impressive start to the campaign.
The i report that Darwin Nunez of Benfica is a ‘priority target’, with Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin also a player of interest, but it’s interesting to see Broja’s name mentioned – a tall, talented nd mobile striker who would give Howe a lot to work with, even if he’s not currently proven in the Premier League.
