Footage has recently emerged of the Alan Shearer statue being moved into its rightful place on the grounds of St James’ Park, as promised by the new owners.
Speaking to the Athletic a few months ago, Amanda Staveley and her husband Mehrdad Ghodoussi promised to relocate the statue – and they have duly delivered.

Bit by bit, our new owners are eradicating every last sign that Mike Ashley was even ever here – Shearer’s Bar is back, the Sports Direct signs removed, and now Shearer’s statue has been put where it belongs.
The Toon legend has already shown his appreciation to the owners for the gesture, which is just one of the first in what will no doubt be a long line of positive changes in and around the club
For everyone involved, it is a sign that this club is going in the right direction, and from where we were six months ago, the only way is up.
