Newcastle discover £34m release clause – Club “very interested” in securing summer deal – Report

Dutch Outlet Voetbal Primeur has revealed that Newcastle are “very interested” in PSV’s midfielder Ibrahim Sanagare after finding a £34million release clause in his contract.

The 24-year-old has also attracted interest from Leicester with Youri Tielemans looking likely to depart the East Midlands club.

This season, the towering Ivorian has made 49 appearances in all competitions for the Dutch club, finishing second in the Eredivisie and making it to the quarter-finals of the Europa Conference League.

It has previously been suggested that bids of around £20million would have “no chance”, so a much more substantial offer will clearly be necessary to even begin negotiations.

At 6ft 3′, Sanagare is a dominant midfielder who also isn’t afraid of having the ball at his feet and searching for a long ball to his attacking teammates.

Paired with a free-flowing attacking-midfielder, the signing of the Ivory Coast international could prove to be lethal in the Premier League given his physical and technical attributes.

  1. Anybody else think that considering this is supposed to be a “slow rebuild” we might already have enough in midfield?

  2. How on earth are Newcastle finding out all these release clauses, better watch out or there’ll be accusations of underhand dealings followed by investigations
