Agent spotted at SJP as Newcastle discuss 3 Premier League strikers & Darwin Nunez – Report

As reported by The Mail’s Craig Hope, Newcastle are fully focussed on finding a new striker with Benfica’s Darwin Nunez, Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Leeds’ Patrick Bamford and Brentford’s Ivan Toney all discussed in transfer talks.

It said the “priority” was always Nunez, but the Uruguayan has attracted a lot of interest from European giants and the fear now is that the asking price is far too high.

As a more realistic option, Calvert-Lewin has been heavily linked with a move to Tyneside recently and the report reveals that his agent was at St James’ Park for our 1-0 defeat to Liverpool earlier this month.

What does cause concern is his injury record – this season the England international has only made the starting line-up 13 times, and the last thing we need is another injury-prone striker.

Patrick Bamford has also been mentioned and interest will be high should Leeds drop down to the Championship as the 28-year-old has a release clause of around £30million.

Again, the worry for Bamford is mainly his list of injuries, so the club may turn to former Newcastle man Ivan Toney who has only missed six games this season and has been crucial to Brentford’s mid-table push.
