Howe gives update on summer signings & looks ahead to final game of 2021/22 season

In his press conference today, Eddie Howe revealed that there will be “no let up” in our game against Burnley and confirmed that “we’re not close to signing anyone” yet.

Ahead of our final game of the season against Burnley, Howe has stated he will not let his players rest and will be picking his strongest team despite having nothing to play for.

“We will pick our strongest team and try to win the game. There’s no let up from our perspective, we’re determined to end the season on a high. An opportunity to finish in the top 10 shouldn’t be underestimated.”

The 44-year-old also updated us on injuries, with Chris Wood and Ryan Fraser both a “doubt” while the club will follow concussion protocols with Fabian Schar.

On Chris Wood, Howe said: “We’re going to try him today in training. We don’t think it’s a serious injury so fingers crossed we see him in training today.”

In terms of summer signings, the boss will not let himself get distracted until the season is over, but has “half an eye on the summer and preparing and planning and get everything organised.”

On Matt Targett, the manager of the season nominee said he will be “sitting down” with him and “discussing his future.”

He added: “He’s been outstanding. Biggest compliment I can pay any loan player is that I view him as an integral member of the squad.”
