Newcastle set for huge say in relegation finale after manic Thursday night

Newcastle will have a huge impact on the relegation battle as they visit a struggling Burnley side on the final day of the season hoping to beat Leeds from the drop.

Following Everton’s dramatic comeback to beat Crystal Palace 3-2 after being 2-0 down, the Merseyside club are now officially safe, meaning either Burnley or Leeds will join Watford and Norwich in the bottom three.

The pair are level on points – 35 – but Burnley holds the superior goal difference, meaning all the Lancashire club has to do is equal Leeds’ result who face Brentford.

Jesse March’s men must therefore better the Burnley result – if Burnley lose, Leeds must draw or win, and if Burnley draw, Leeds have to win.

While we may have nothing to play for, our victory over Arsenal on Monday night would suggest that Eddie Howe will not let his players rest early and you can expect to see us fight for every ball as though we are the ones fighting relegation.

However, something that could potentially be on our minds is the release clause of some of our targets – Kalvin Phillips, Raphinha and Patrick Bamford all have a relegation release clause of around £30m – so a defeat could also work in our favour.

  1. Whatever happens we have had a brilliant season and exciting times ahead.

I can’t wait to see which players we bring in the summer. If we get 2 or 3 at the level of Bruno, Wilson and Trippier then we are in for another cracking season.

Top ten I think perhaps a crack at Europe and a good go at the cups would be awesome.

  2. Nah ! I doubt it ! fist it was the refusal of the Saudi’s from some kind of screwed up governmental crisis, which on reconsidering the UK government quickly changed it’s mind (hey! that may mean that we don’t sell them modern arms , and a lotta dosh involved) plus the aircraft are directed by British forces , jobs for the boys, really nowt to do with nufc .
Thats why there’s still lingering upset on NUFC’s acquiring an away strip which s green and white, so whadda ya sayin we cant let them choose the colors of the side that they paid over forty million to actually own.
C’mon folks this is the twenty first century not the nineteenth, where money talks and bullshit walks, seven days a week.
