Newcastle finally set to announce new deal until 2026 – The Times

According to The Times, Newcastle are prepared to extend Sean Longstaff’s contract until 2026 following weeks of discussions as his current deal is set to expire in June.

Manager Eddie Howe has been very vocal in his admiration of the midfielder and his desire to ensure the 24-year-old stays at the club beyond the summer.

Despite his appreciation, Longstaff has not featured too heavily since the former Bournemouth man arrived back in December, only starting seven games under his management.

However, the academy graduate could be a useful squad player next season as we look to make other positions more of a priority when bringing in new faces, and a £60milion budget won’t stretch too far.

It’s also always good to have players in and around the dressing room who know the city and what the club means to people – Longstaff is just one of us, a fan who was lucky enough to work his way onto the pitch.
