Newcastle target bargain deal for towering French youth international – Report

According to French outlet Foot Mercato, Newcastle are eyeing a £7.5million deal for the 6ft 7 Le Havre defender Isaak Toure as a cheaper alternative to some of the bigger names we have been linked with in the summer.

Marseille, Lyon, Frankfurt and Wolfsburg have also shown some interest, but so far, Newcastle appear to be making the most concrete offer out of everyone.

The 19-year-old broke through into the French side’s starting line-up back in 2020 but has just completed his first full season in Ligue 2 making 17 appearances as they finished eighth.

It has also been suggested that the teenager would like to have his future sorted out before the Under-19 European Championships get underway in Slovakia in a few weeks.

It is unlikely that the French youth international would be brought in as a first-team player, but rather someone much younger to replace the likes of Ciaran Clark and Federico Fernandez who can develop into a top prospect.
