As reported by Mark Douglas at i news, Atletico Madrid full-back Renan Lodi is ‘open’ to sealing a summer move to St James’ Park following concrete interest from Newcastle United.
We have recently been linked with moves for both Lodi and Matt Targett as left-back options, although it now appears as though the Aston Villa loanee could join Fulham to be with his family down south.
Despite this, the 24-year-old Brazilian would be a big coup for Newcastle after playing a crucial role in winning the La Liga title just a year ago – alongside former teammate Kieran Trippier.
Outside of Lyon’s Lucas Paqueta, Lodi might be the most obvious signing of the summer, with him enjoying a close relationship with midfielder Bruno Guimaraes and playing alongside Trippier in a successful Atletico side.
Another positive is that his agent, Giuliano Bertolucci, has already worked with us in the signing of Bruno six months ago, putting us in a strong position to attract the full-back over some European giants who have also shown interest such as Juventus.
