The Mail have reported that Newcastle have lined up Bayer Leverkusen’s Moussa Diaby, Nottingham Forest’s Brennan Johnson, Everton’s Demarai Gray and Leeds’ Jack Harrison as potential replacements for Miguel Almiron.
Despite showing patches of form following an injury to Ryan Fraser, it looks like the Paraguayan could be shipped out this summer, with Craig Hope naming four wingers who’ve been scouted in recent months.
Should Forest win promotion in their playoff final against Huddersfield, Johnson will become much more difficult to acquire and may even stay at his boyhood club to aid their survival next year.
Another who is now a more expensive prospect is Jack Harrison after he scored the winning goal to keep Leeds in the Premier League, so would expect his asking price to have rocketed.
Leverkusen’s Diaby is also being scouted by a number of European giants after the 22-year-old had a breakout season in the Bundesliga and may prove to be too costly, although L’Equipe claim that a ‘formal bid’ will arrive from Newcastle in the ‘coming days.’
Gray was a bright spark at the beginning of the season for Everton – seven goal involvements in his first 15 games – but his individual form, just like his club’s, had tailed off towards the end of the year – seeing him bag just two assists since December.
