MLS top scorer linked with Newcastle move as Everton and West Ham also show interest

According to Italian outlet TuttoMercato, Newcastle have joined a host of Premier League clubs interested in signing New York City FC’s Valentin Castellanos.

The 23-year-old ended the 2021 MLS season as top goal scorer with 19 goals in 32 games, seeing him attract plenty of attention from European sides.

Newcastle, Everton and West Ham are believed to have emerged as potential destinations for the Argentinian, who has continued his good form into this season, bagging seven goals in nine appearances.

Pep Guardiola was keen on the player back in December 2021, however the newly crowned champions have announced the imminent arrival of Julian Alvarez, leaving the door open for other top flight clubs to make a move.

One thing to remember is that the Argentinian youth international is putting in these performances in the same league that Miguel Almiron dominated for three years, so we must be very thorough on our scouting of the player, if we really are interested.
