Newcastle plan to exploit cash-strapped rivals with bid for Premier League striker – Report

According to The Mirror, Newcastle are hoping that Everton’s financial problems will help us strike a deal for Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

The report – written by Northern Football Correspondent David Maddock – states that 25-year-old has been identified as the ‘perfect man’ to lead the line under Eddie Howe and our top target up top, meaning a bid to test the Toffees’ resolve appear imminent.

The 25-year-old has struggled heavily this season with injuries keeping him out for sustained periods of time, forcing him to miss around half of the team’s fixtures.

Despite the difficulties, the England international ended the year on a high after the Merseyside club guaranteed safety with just one game to spare, with Calvert-Lewin netting twice and assisting once in their final three games.

Manager Eddie Howe is reportedly after a ‘mobile target man who can score goals’ and the Sheffield-born man has certainly proven this when fully fit, sporting a record of roughly one goal in every three games.

A big fee will apparently be required for the 6ft 2 forward who has also attracted interest from both Manchester United and Arsenal after expressing that he is open to a summer move.
