Howe set for transfer U-turn and identifies TWO back-up options if Botman bid fails – TalkSPORT

According to TalkSPORT reporter Alex Crook, Newcastle look set to abandon their pursuit of Arnaut Danjuma as Eddie Howe has ‘doubts about the Netherlands international’s temperament.’

The Mail reported last month that we were preparing to make a move for the Villarreal winger who was brought to Bournemouth by the current NUFC boss, however it seems we’re now having second thoughts.

Instead, it’s Bayer Leverkusen’s Moussa Diaby who is being tipped to make a big money move to St James’ Park, with a raft of recent reports suggesting he is now one of our top attacking targets.

At the other end of the pitch, TalkSPORT claim Howe has identified Man City’s Nathan Ake as an alternative to Sven Botman should the Lille defender opt for AC Milan.

The Dutchman was a key player for the 44-year-old during their time together on the South Coast and is someone we ‘enquired about‘ in January, says Crook.

However, it’s now said that Pep Guardiola will allow the centre-back to move on this summer, meaning a move to St James’ Park could be on the agenda should we miss out on Botman.

The same report also states that Howe retains a ‘long-term interest’ in Cherries skipper Lloyd Kelly, so he too could be one to watch if we don’t lang our top defensive target.
