Sven Botman saga takes new twist as Fabrizio Romano issues update – Good news for NUFC?

The Sven Botman saga is getting pretty exhausting, but renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano has issued a positive update on our pursuit of the giant Dutchman on Thursday evening.

He reports that Newcastle are ‘advancing’ in their bid to bring the 22-year-old to St James’ Park ‘as soon possible’, stating that talks between ourselves and Lille have entered into a ‘key stage.’

Romano says Serie A giants AC Milan are ‘still in the race’, but believes Newcastle are closing in on a deal for the highly-rated defender who is ‘open’ to sealing a Premier League move this summer.

Here’s what the Italian reporter told his 8.5million followers just a few moments ago:

This comes after The Telegraph reported last night that we were closing in on a £30m move for the 6ft 5′ defender, with the Northern Echo also stating that we’d agreed a fee with Lille earlier today.

After a long-term pursuit that’s stretched over two transfer windows now, let’s hope the big man is holding up a Newcastle United shirt at St James’ Park soon!

  1. Look elsewhere, he obviously is not convinced Newcastle is the team for him. We want players who will play for the pride of the badge I’m not convinced of his commitment.

  2. “stating that talks between ourselves and Lille have entered into a ‘key stage.’ ”

So was that when his agent said “Trun rond, laat je broek zakken en buig voorover”

In English that would be “turn round, drop you pants and bend over”.
