Dan Ashworth now looking to bring Brighton star with him to St James’ Park?

According to Belgian outlet Voetbalkrant, Dan Ashworth is keen on bringing Leandro Trossard to Newcastle from his former employers at Brighton as we continue our search for a new winger.

This isn’t the first time we’ve been linked with a move for the 27-year-old, who could leave The Amex this summer as he enters the final 12 months of his current deal.

In what was Brighton’s best ever league finish in their history, the Belgian international shone under Graham Potter, scoring eight and assisting three in 34 Premier League appearances.

Newcastle have been in the market for a new winger for some time now and with Bayer Leverkusen’s Moussa Diaby looking to be staying at his German club, the report states that we are growing more ‘interested’ in Trossard.

Adding quality and depth out wide could be important this summer, with the likes of Jacob Murphy and Miguel Almiron bagging just two goals between them across the entire 2021/22 season.

With Dan Burn and Dan Ashworth already arriving from Brighton this year, it’ll be interesting to see if the latter will look to raid his former employers, as the club have also been credited with interest in Seagulls trio Robert Sanchez, Adam Webster and Yves Bissouma.
