According to the Northern Echo, Sheffield Wednesday have submitted a loan bid for Newcastle United teenager Elliot Anderson.
The same piece states that Championship trio West Brom, Reading and Stoke have also ‘made contact’ with club officials over a potential deal.
However, Eddie Howe has no plans to sanction an early move away for the 19-year-old talent and will instead offer him a chance to impress over pre-season before making a decision.
This comes after the Geordie talent enjoyed an outstanding stint at Bristol Rovers over the second half of the 2021/22 season, bagging eight goals and five assists in 21 appearances – including the all important goal that helped Joey Barton’s side seal promotion to League One on the final day!
Given the amount of interest he’s already receiving from Championship sides, a move to the third tier with promotion hopefuls Sheffield Wednesday seems unlikely if he does go out on loan again.
The Echo say there’s a “good chance” Anderson heads out one more time to further his development at senior level, but he could yet feature in Howe’s Premier League plans if he impresses over pre-season – especially when he wouldn’t have to be registered to our 25-man squad as a player under the age of 21.
Wycombe Wanderers is the best place for him next season, chance to learn and play in the right environment.

He’d be better on our bench as de Bolle was this season.
