Matt Ritchie receives interest from Premier League club to edge closer to NUFC exit – Report

According to reports, newly-promoted Bournemouth are keen to bring Matt Ritchie back to the club this summer.

This comes from the Northern Echo, who claim that the Cherries are ‘interested’ in re-signing the 32-year-old following their return to the Premier League.

Ritchie enjoyed three and a half seasons at the Vitality Stadium prior to his move to St James’ Park back in 2016 and has regularly been linked with a return in recent years.

Sky Sports reported last February that we rejected a deadline day bid from Bournemouth during Steve Bruce’s last January window at the club, while other outlets have suggested that the Portsmouth-born wide man was keen to be back with family on the South Coast

Whether Scott Parker’s side actually pursue a move for Ritchie remains to be seen, but it may be the best case scenario for all parties if he can secure a move this summer, with him way down the pecking order under Eddie Howe and managing just 17 minutes of action over the second half of the 2021/22 season.

Should he move on, he’d leave as one of our best servants over the past decade and with our best wishes.
