As reported by Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte, Newcastle have reached out to the agent of Santos winger Angelo Gabriel and have shown interest in a possible transfer.
At just 17-years-old, Gabriel is already considered one of the ‘main jewels’ at the Brazilian club who are not avidly looking to sell the youngster after he recently signed a contract until 2024.
However, it’s reported that we’ve sent representatives to speak with the players’ agent, who has ‘made the bridge’ with those in charge of the club regarding our interest in the highly-rated South American.
The right-winger enjoyed a rapid rise to Santos’ first team, making 68 appearances in the last two years as well as earning a call-up to the Brazil Under-17 side, with many expecting him to soon make the leap to Europe.
His versatility has been highlighted as one of his key strengths – meaning he is capable of also playing on the left – along with his pace and flair which have helped to improve his game.
It’s said that a formal bid is yet to be made for the young star, but interest remains high and the club will continue to monitor his situation over the coming weeks.
