‘Newcastle could make a move’ – Argentinian forward linked with summer switch to SJP

According to Italian outlet Gazzetta Dello Sport, Newcastle are now in the running for Inter Milan forward Joaquin Correa.

The 27-year-old joined I Nerazzurri due to an obligation to buy in his year-long loan from Lazio, but the former Serie A champions are now looking to offload – and Newcastle have emerged as a potential destination for the versatile attacker who can play up top or out wide.

The report states that ‘the wealthy Newcastle could make a move’, knowing Inter could look to sell so soon after activating their mandatory £20million purchase clause.

When he left Lazio, the 6ft 2′ Argentinian was considered to be an exciting talent. He’d managed 17 goal contributions in 36 appearances – across Serie A and the Champions League – during the 2020/21 season and was coming off the back of a Copa America victory with his national side.

However, during his loan spell at Inter, the 27-year-old only managed six goals and one assist in his 26 league appearances – only 12 of which he actually started.

With the club now looking to pursue a deal to bring Romelu Lukaku back to the San Siro, his time in Milan now appears to be over, despite the fact he’s only just signed on a permanent deal.

This could be another link from Italy with zero substance to it, but his ability to play anywhere across a front three could appeal to Eddie Howe – who is said to be in the market for a striker and a winger this summer.
