Fabrizio Romano confirms €36m bid, praises NUFC’s owners and reveals 3 deals on the agenda

Renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano claims Newcastle have offered Lille €36m – including add-ons – for Sven Botman.

Speaking on the Qué Golazo Podcast, Romano has also praised the approach our new owners have taken since buying the club last summer, insisting they have been “very good in negotiations.”

He insists that they will NOT be dragged in to paying the “Newcastle tax” now we are deemed the ‘richest club on the planet’, stating that we are sticking to our strategy, staying relaxed and refusing to pay over the odds for top targets.

With this in mind, he claims that a “crazy deal” for Hugo Ekitike is still being worked on despite complications, stating that a fee is agreed with Reims but work still needs to be done on the player and agents side to finalise his long-awaited move to St James’ Park.

Elsewhere, Romano reveals that Nick Pope is also a “seriously possibility”, believing we have opted to sign the Burnley goalkeeper instead of Dean Henderson; who looks set to join Nottingham Forest.
