‘Breaking news’ from Italy on Friday night – Sven Botman finally set to join Newcastle United?

Some big claims have emerged from Italy in the last few moments, with a host of outlets suggesting Newcastle United have finally won the race for Sven Botman.

Sport Italia were the first to report on the ‘breaking news’, stating that the Dutchman is now just ‘one step away’ from sealing a move to St James’ Park after AC Milan took too long to submit an improved offer.

Calciomercato have also got in on the scene, saying the 22-year-old accepted our latest offer ‘last night’, with Milan based journalist Daniele Longo states the Serie A giants did “everything they could” but have been unable to match the terms we put forward.

Elsewhere, GFFN – a popular French outlet – claim AC Milan have been unable to match a ‘€45m bid’ that’s arrived from Newcastle, meaning the defender’s proposed move to Tyneside is expected to ‘accelerate’ in the coming days.

We await an ‘update’ from sources closer to home, but hopefully the likes of The Athletic, Sky Sports or The Telegraph all have the same information as those in Italy and France!

Have we finally got our man after a six-month pursuit? We’ll soon find out!
