Sky Sports: Sven Botman set for medical as Newcastle United agree fee with Lille

Following big claims from Italy on Friday afternoon, Sky Sports have confirmed that Newcastle have now agreed a deal with Lille for long-term target Sven Botman.

The fee is believed to be an initial £35m that could rise to £39m through add-ons, with Keith Downie revealing that the player will travel to Tyneside next week to undergo a medical.

Both AC Milan and Newcastle have been battling for the 22-year-old in recent weeks, but it looks like we’ve finally got our man, beating the Italian giants to the Dutchman’s signature.

Sky Sports add that personal terms ‘are not expected to be an issue, suggesting it’s now just a matter of time until the centre-back signs.

Providing everything goes smoothly over the coming days, Botman will become our third signing of the summer, joining Eddie Howe – who will be overjoyed to finally have his defender – and his team to prepare for a full pre-season.

Here’s confirmation via Sky Sports North-East correspondent Keith Downie, who said this on Twitter just moments ago:
