According to reports in Brazil, Newcastle United have had a €35m bid rejected for Porto winger Pepê.
This comes from Brazilian outlet @geglobo, who report that the the Portuguese giants are holding out for a whopping €60m for the 25-year-old.
The piece also states that the two clubs remain in negotiations over a fee, however it seems we are a long way apart on valuations when you compare our opening offer to their alleged asking price.
Pepê completed a £13.5m move from Grêmio last summer and went on to bag six goals and six assists in his debut season at Porto during the 2021/22 campaign.
He can operate down either flank, yet he has played down the left for the majority of his career – which is interesting when we’re said to be in the market for a right-sided winger this summer.
Another name to watch out for, although I’d be surprised if we’re willing to pay this much for a player like Pepe who remains relatively unproven in Europe.
