Sven Botman has confirmed that his move to Newcastle United is finally “official”, stating he’s “happy” to be here after posing for pictures at St James’ Park.
Co-owners Mehrdad Ghodoussi and Jamie Reuben have since reacted to news of his arrival, welcoming the 22-year-old to the “best club in the world” and Newcastle United “family.”
This comes after the club announced that a fee has been ‘agreed in principle’ with Lille, stating that the Dutchman will sign a five-year deal on Tyneside in the coming days while they wait for the formalities to be finalised.
Here’s what Botman had to say on Twitter following news of his long-awaited arrival, followed by Ghodoussi and Reuben’s posts on social media:
”Official!
“Happy to be part of the Magpies family!
“See you soon!”
I’m sure I read somewhere that if a player is bought in installments, for the purpose of Financial Fair Play only the yearly installment is considered.
So we could spend half a billion, but if it’s installments it goes on the books as a hundred million.
Anyone know this for sure?
