New list of striker targets revealed by NUFC reporter after club walk away from Ekitike deal

As reported by Craig Hope, Newcastle are now considering the likes of Alexander Isak, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Armando Broja and Gianluca Scamacca after walking away from Hugo Ekitike.

His latest piece for The Mail states that moves for Isak and Calvert-Lewin may prove too pricey – the former is valued at £40m – but it seems clear the club are targeting a young striker with pace, presence and potential.

The report claims that we are waiting to see what Chelsea have planned for Broja before making a move, while some believe Scamacca prefers to remain in Italy following a breakout season at Sassuolo.

At just 22, Isak is already an established La Liga and international forward with both Real Sociedad and Sweden. He’s played a combined 165 games for club and country and averages a goal every three games.

Calvert-Lewin, despite an injury-ridden season, still managed to show his worth with seven goal contributions in 17 games in a struggling Everton side and will be desperate to find top form ahead of the World Cup.

Broja impressed during his loan spell at Southampton, being a 6ft 3′ striker with pace, technical ability and plenty of potential at the age of 20.

Scamacca may be relatively unknown to those not interested in Italian football, but the big man has been a revelation for Sassuolo, scoring 16 in 36 in Serie A and making his Italy debut in the same year.

With Ekitike’s agent causing too many issues for Newcastle’s liking, the search for a new forward continues and will hopefully be resolved in time for the new season.
