Newcastle set to sign Southampton talent “in the coming days” – Report

Newcastle United look set to sign one of Southampton’s ‘top young stars’ in the coming days, according to Football Insider.

The club have already made a few moves at U23 level this summer, with Alex Murphy and Charlie McArthur set to sign from Galway United and Kilmarnock, respectively.

Now, youth football expert John Wenham has revealed that an unnamed Academy talent will be arriving from Southampton in the “coming days.”

He states that the player is 16 and could earn around £6,500-per-week, with some wondering whether it could be Tyler Dibling; the teenage sensation who scored a stunning hat-trick in a 4-2 win at St James’ Park in April.

Time will tell, but here’s what Wenham told Football Insider about the mystery move:

“I don’t know the name but I know Newcastle have picked up a 16-year-old Southampton boy on £6,500-per-week.

“That’s fairly interesting because it shows the club are developing away from the first team and investing in the academy.

“I think the announcement will come in the coming days, before the end of the week.

“On that money, now, over a three-year deal, that’s £1million. On that money, you have made it, regardless of what you do in the game.
