Newcastle “seriously considering” bid for Premier League talent with big potential – Report

According to CBS journalist Ben Jacobs, Newcastle are now “seriously considering” a bid for Chelsea forward Armando Broja.

As things stand, it seems the 20-year-old Albanian is a leading alternative to Hugo Ekitike, however he’s also been identified as West Ham’s ‘top target.’

Broja spent last season on loan at Southampton, but Blues boss Thomas Tuchel now wants to ‘asses’ the talented striker in pre-season before making a decision on his future.

Newcastle are in desperate need of a goalscorer and look to be moving on from Hugo Ekitike, with Broja an intriguing option given the promising blend of pace, presence and technical ability he seems to possess.

At such a young age, Broja will be able to learn from the likes of Callum Wilson, being capable of competing with the England international – or replace him in the side should his injury issues persist.

That said, with Ajax, Leicester, Napoli and West Ham all said to be keen and Chelsea likely to demand a hefty fee should they decide to sell, it may not be an easy deal to do for Dan Ashworth and Co.

Who knows, maybe a loan – or loan with an obligation to buy – could be possible? It’d certainly help maximise what’s left of our summer budget.

Here’s what Jacobs had to say about our interest in the striker:
