Newcastle back in talks with long-term target and ‘confident’ of signing £30m striker – Reports

According to The Mirror, Newcastle are hoping to beat Tottenham, Everton and West Ham to the signing of Jesse Lingard on a free transfer.

After Manchester United demanded a ridiculous loan fee for the 29-year-old in January to scupper a mid-season move to St James’ Park, he is now without a club and considering his offers ahead of the new 2022/23 season.

The report states that we have reignited talks with the player’s management team, with West Ham’s contract offer falling short of Lingard’s wage demands.

Another Hammers target who could end up on Tyneside is Armando Broja.

The Mirror report that David Moyes fears any offer they make for the Chelsea forward will be ‘gazumped’ by Newcastle, with West Ham chiefs concerned we will offer the 20-year-old a ‘superior financial package.’

The Northern Echo’s Scott Wilson reveals that we are ‘confident’ of beating the Irons to Broja should Thomas Tuchel allow him to leave, revealing that Eddie Howe is a big fan of the striker’s all round play and potential to develop into a top Premier League striker.

He’s also been linked with moves to Ajax and Napoli, however it’s believed the player himself is keen to stay in the Premier League.
