NUFC reporter responds to Tielemans, Paqueta and Danjuma links in Sunday morning update

The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards has issued an update on the Toon transfer front, responding to reports linking us with moves for Youri Tielemans, Lucas Paqueta and Arnaut Danjuma.

He reports that the Leicester City midfielder is a player Newcastle ‘like’, but believes his wage demands and eagerness to play European football makes this a difficult deal to do.

Edwards also feels we are prioritising deals for a new striker and right winger, making a pricey move for another midfielder ‘very unlikely’ at this stage.

Elsewhere, he’s been told that a move for Lyon’s Lucas Paqueta is a “no” as things stand, with Villarreal’s Arnaut Danjuma also deemed unlikely to sign this summer.

The North-East correspondent says it’s been a quiet week on the transfer front, revealing that we haven’t had “any bids” for some of the fringe men we are looking to move on.

Moving those on could be key to create room for further additions, but it’s said the club are “very relaxed” over incomings, believing it’s better to wait for the “right player” than just opt for those who have been offered our way.
