Newcastle eyeing another Premier League winger if Diaby and Gordon stay put – The Telegraph

It looks like Jack Harrison could be one to watch this summer, especially if Eddie Howe fails to land his top targets in wide areas.

The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards has revealed that the Leeds star is a name to keep an eye on if the club don’t manage to sign either Bayer Leverkusen’s Moussa Diaby or Everton’s Anthony Gordon.

The Frenchman and England U21 star appear to be leading targets in our search for a new winger, however the former could be priced out of a move to St James’ Park and the latter is highly unlikely due to Everton’s determination to keep him on Merseyside.

Things could change – many hope the Bundesliga side may eventually reduce their demands regarding Diaby – but it seems Harrison may well be next on the list.

Edwards says Howe wants young players who can ‘grow with the project’ over coming years, so a move for the 25-year-old winger who’s bagged 18 goals and 10 assists over the past two seasons could appeal.

Personally, I feel Harrison is better suited to playing on the left – we need a right-winger – and isn’t a massive upgrade on the likes of Almiron or Fraser.

He’s talented and would improve our squad, but it would be a tad underwhelming to go from Moussa Diaby to him when many were hoping for a marquee signing capable of delivering big numbers in attack.
