Newcastle ‘offered’ two forwards involved in 26 Premier League goals last season – Report

Newcastle United have been offered the chance to sign Watford’s Emmanuel Dennis and Burnley’s Maxwel Cornet, according to The Chronicle.

Lee Ryder reports that Eddie Howe is creating space for the arrival of at least one new attacker, with Dwight Gayle’s demotion to U21 training a sign that we are looking to make room for a new addition.

Both Dennis and Cornet suffered relegation in May, but the pair performed well in otherwise dire seasons for Watford and Burnley.

Dennis was involved in 16 goals in 33 Premier League appearances (10 goals and six assists), while Cornet played a part in 10 goals (nine goals and one assist) in 26 outings.

Whether Newcastle have any interest in signing either remains to be seen, however they are players who may tick a few boxes, being relatively young at 24 and 25. They are also capable of playing up top or down either flank, suggesting they’d be able to cover two positions Eddie Howe appears keen to strengthen.

We may want a higher calibre of playeryet Cornet is said to have a £17.5m relegation release clause, meaning he could be a handy squad player if the club decided to cash in on the likes of Miguel Almiron.
