Newcastle turn to 17-goal Espanyol star who could leave for £30m this summer – Report

Newcastle are now showing interest in Espanyol striker Raúl de Tomás, according to reports in Spain.

It’s believed that ourselves and Juventus are both considering moves for the Spaniard, with Revelo revealing that he could be allowed to leave if a bid in the region of 35 million euros (£30million) arrives.

The 27-year-old was one of the star players in La Liga last season, with only Karim Benzema and Iago Aspas bettering his 17-goal tally over 2021/22.

He’s been capped four times by his country and boasts an impressive record in the Spanish top flight, scoring 35 times across 81 La Liga appearances for Espaynol and Rayo Vallecano.

The former Real Madrid youngster is predominantly a centre forward, but has been known to come short and operate as a second striker, showing he’s more than comfortable with the ball at his feet.

One thing that strikes me about this latest link is the player’s age. He turns 28 in a few months time, so is much more of a senior alternative to the likes of Armando Broja, Hugo Ekitike and Arnaud Kalimuendo – three 20-year-old forward who’ve been heavily linked with a possible move to Tyneside over the past month.

Here’s Raul De Tomas in action following his best season yet in La Liga:
