Newcastle offered former Man Utd forward and Serie A striker – Howe has ‘concerns’ – Report

Newcastle United have been handed the chance to sign Memphis Depay, according to 90min reporter Graeme Bailey.

The 28-year-old Dutchman, who joined Barcelona just last summer, has been ‘offered’ our way along with Atalanta striker Duvan Zapata. The pair both scored 13 goals last season and could be available for around €20m.

However, the same report notes that Eddie Howe has ‘concerns over either player’s suitability for his system’ and it may be unlikely that we will make a move unless we are desperate by the end of the window.

As was shown in January, the club will not rush into making signings, especially if they are priced well over our valuation or deemed unsuitable for the side Howe is trying to build on Tyneside.

While a new striker and winger are very much needed, there is still plenty of time left in this window. There’s no need to panic just yet, as it’s important we get these decisions spot on if we want to avoid becoming another Everton.
