Newcastle contact Rennes over £17m star after rejecting Leeds’ Jack Harrison demands – Report

Another day and another exciting young winger linked with a move to Newcastle. Today it is Rennes’ Kamaldeen Sulemana, as reported by the Daily Mail.

The news comes as Dan Ashworth is allegedly ‘put off’ by Leeds’ £35m valuation of Jack Harrison, meaning we’re now exploring other options once again.

The Ghana international, known by his first name, Kamaldeen joined the French club last year for £17m.

Newcastle are reported to have ‘asked’ about the 20-year-old winger who fits similar criteria to previous target Hugo Ekitike, who has now signed for PSG. Both can play across the front three and are under 21 – so don’t have to be registered in our 25-man squad.

The difference between the two is their contribution in the final third, Ekitike’s one goal every 2.4 games is better than the Rennes’ winger’s return of one in five. On the other hand Kamaldeen creates 3.9 chances per 90 compared to the new PSG man’s 2.7.

Although it may just be paper talk, Kamaldeen definitely fits the profile of a young winger, so it would not be a surprise to see things develop if the price is right.
