French media claim Newcastle have entered talks with representatives of €20m-rated PSG winger

If fresh reports from France are to be believed, Newcastle United have made contact over a potential move for Paris Saint-Germain attacker Julian Draxler.

According to an Le10 Sport‘s latest exclusive, initial discussions have already taken place between the two clubs, with the player’s camp also in discussions.

PSG are said to want ‘€20-30m for the German, who is one of four players on Luis Campos’ “black list”, with the Portuguese advisor believing the winger does not have a future with the Ligue 1 giants.

A quality player on his day, but I’m not sure he fits the mould and wonder whether this is another agent-driven story where Newcastle’s name have been used to drive up interest elsewhere?

For starters, he turns 29 in two months time, so is considerably older than the wingers we’ve been looking at so far this summer. Despite his obvious talent, he’s a big name who’s been on the decline in recent seasons – not the sort of young, exciting option we’ve been backed to target.

There is also the factor of the midfielder’s wage demands. He is undoubtedly highly paid in Paris and this would upset the structure on Tyneside – that’s before we even get into his poor injury record.

I would take this one with a pinch of salt, but would you be happy to see Draxler in black-and-white next season?
