Transfer U-turn hands Newcastle fresh boost as Armando Broja saga takes another twist – Report

According to Mark Douglas at iNews, Newcastle are back in for Armando Broja after West Ham ‘dropped their interest’ in the Chelsea striker..

Last week, it looked like Armando Broja was closing in on a move to the London stadium. However, the Hammers have now agreed a £30m deal for Sassuolo star Gianluca Scamacca and withdrawn their bid for the Albanian as a result.

The 20-year-old is eager to find regular football – something he’s unlikely to get at Stamford Bridge – and it’s believed both ourselves and Everton are now pushing to sign the highly-rated forward.

Douglas reports that our loan offer ‘may yet appeal’ to Chelsea, who are reluctant to sell the former Southampton loanee – but are ‘struggling’ to find a role for him ahead of the coming season.

Everton are also ‘ready’ to push through a deal, with Frank Lampard keen to replace Richarlison following his big money move to Spurs, so it seems we face competition yet remain hopeful he might still be available on loan.

With us battling to bring in a striker AND right winger with what remains of our summer budget (around £40-£50m, according to reports), it’s easy to see why a loan move for Broja appeals.

He bagged nine goals in all competitions for Southampton last season and would give Eddie Howe plenty to work with, being a tall yet mobile forward with good technique.

  1. Broja wants regular starting spot, which he would have had at West Ham, but Tuchel won.t sell him, then contemplates making a bid for Declan. No chance! Why would Declan want to go to a club that’s just lost 4-0 to the Gooners? Both Broja and Tuchel know he want be a regular starter for Chelski, they’ll bring someone else in.
