Agent of NUFC target ‘trying to make move happen’ despite gap in valuation – Alan Nixon

Some interesting claims have arrived from The Sun’s Alan Nixon regarding our pursuit of Everton winger Anthony Gordon.

He claims that the player’s camp are ‘still trying to make the move happen’ and are ‘working overtime to find a figure that will suit both sides’ after the Toffees valuation landed way above what we were willing to pay for the 21-year-old.

As we know, it emerged earlier this month that we’d made contact with Everton over a potential move for the England U21 star, however talk of the youngster arriving on Tyneside has gone quiet ever since, with many believing he was highly unlikely to leave his boyhood club anytime soon.

He’s recently been handed the number 10 shirt at Goodison Park and has been tipped to sign a new improved contract, yet Nixon’s latest claims suggest his agent is pushing to secure him a move to St James’.

The report states that we value Gordon around the £25m mark – a fraction of the fee it would take to tempt Everton into a sale and a familiar tale in our attempts to sign new attackers.

It would surely take the player to push for a move to make this one happen, but I can’t see that given he’s a local lad currently living his dream at the club he grew up supporting.

Another agent pushing for a payday or perhaps a load of rubbish? Who knows.
