Newcastle linked with 6ft 6′ striker impressing in Ligue 1 – Player ‘keen’ on Premier League move

Another day, another new name linked with a potential summer move to St James’ Park.

Today it’s Strasbourg giant Ludovic Ajorque, with Football Insider reporting that we are one of three Premier League sides considering a move for the French striker.

They report that Newcastle, Leicester City and Crystal Palace are all showing interest in the 6ft 5′ forward, stating that the club’s president Marc Keller has given intermediary, Mark McKay, the green light to find a buyer.

The ‘exclusive’ also claims that the player himself is ‘keen’ on a move to the Premier League after proving himself to be one of the best strikers in Ligue 1 over the past two seasons.

Ajorque has bagged 28 goals and 14 assists over the past two years, with his 20-goal involvements over the 2021/22 campaign helping Strasbourg finish 7th – above the likes of Lyon and Lille.

He may tick a few boxes as a big striker who is surprisingly mobile for his size, but I get the feeling Howe wants a younger and more versatile forward based on our interest in the likes of Hugo Ekitike and Armando Broja?

  1. “Once upon a time there was a striker and winger who hadn’t been mentioned in connection with Newcastle….”
No there wasn’t, that’s a fairy tale. We’ve been linked with every single one. Unless it’s confirmed by the club I don’t believe it. Then I don’t believe it because why would the club alert competition? You must really hate this time of year 😆
