Newcastle reach final decision on Elliot Anderson after huge loan interest – The Telegraph

It looks like Elliot Anderson has played his way into Eddie Howe’s plans ahead of the new Premier League season.

As revealed by The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards, it’s believed that Eddie Howe has decided in the ‘last few days’ that he’ll be keeping the 19-year-old on Tyneside.

He’s received a huge amount of interest from a ‘host of Championship and Scottish clubs’, with many expecting him to go out on loan, but it looks like they’ll be left frustrated after an impressive summer with our senior team.

Sources at The Telegraph reveal that the Toon teenager has looked ‘more than comfortable’ in the first-team set up, with staff behind the scenes hugely impressed by his talent, maturity and confidence – it’s said the latter has grown since he returned from that stunning loan spell at Bristol Rovers.

Howe also values the fact he can play as a ‘No 8’ in part of a midfield three or out wide, and it seems our struggles to bring in a new winger have contributed to our decision here.

Edwards insists, however, that he WILL stay on Tyneside ahead of upcoming season even if a few new attackers arrive, highlighting just how much he’s impressed over the past few weeks.

Anderson started in last night’s 3-2 defeat to Benfica and has been described as the biggest Academy talent we’ve produced in ‘over a decade’ by staff.
