TEAM NEWS: Anderson, Pope & Almiron all start vs Atalanta at St James’ Park – Watch for free here

The team sheets have been released ahead of tonight’s penultimate pre-season friendly of the summer, which sees us take on Atalanta at St James’ Park (watch here on NUFC TV).

Here’s the starting 11 and subs bench Eddie Howe has gone with ahead of the 7.45pm kick off, seeing the likes of Pope, Anderson and Almiron all start:

Starting XI: Pope, Trippier, Schar, Burn, Targett, S Longstaff, Anderson, Almiron, Murphy, Wood, Fraser.

Subs: Gillespie, A Murphy, Bondswell, M Longstaff, De Bolle, Miley, Turner-Cooke, Munoz, Stephenson.

So, it seems several key players are being saved for tomorrow’s clash with Athletic Bibao, with ASM, Bruno, Botman, Willock, Wilson and Lascelles replaced by a host of young guns.

Jonjo Shelvey is also missing after being ruled out for at least two weeks with a hamstring injury, while Joelinton is suspended following a red card picked up in Tuesday night’s 3-2 defeat against Benfica.

Here’s how our pre-season has panned out so far this summer, featuring two training camps in Austria and Portugal, wins over Gateshead, 1860 Munich and Burnley and defeats to Mainz and Benfica:
