Newcastle considering FOUR new bids & club now favourites to land loan deal – Mark Douglas

As reported by iNews Mark Douglas, Newcastle United look set to launch an improved bid for James Maddison.

Newcastle had a £40m offer for Maddison rejected over the weekend, with Leicester asking for a fee closer to £60m in order to tempt their hand. It is believed that the majority of the fee would have to be paid up front to help Leicester’s own recruitment drive – although that structure of payments does not appeal to us.

The report also reveals that we’re ‘considering’ bids for Foxes teammates Harvey Barnes and Youri Tielemans, while Toon chiefs have received ‘encouragement’ from Burnley as we ponder a fresh move for Maxwel Cornet – even though the two clubs have been apart on valuation so far.

Last but certainly not least, Douglas states that we’re now in ‘pole position’ to bring in Chelsea striker Timo Werner, backing up the big claims that emerged from The Mirror on Saturday night.

Newcastle are prepared to pay a sizeable loan fee and a portion of his hefty wages, however it seems a move for the German will hinge on the Blues bringing in a replacement.

So we’ll offer 41 million. That’s closer to 60 million than 40 is.

  2. An initial £40 million bid for Leicester’s James Maddison was turned down by the Magpies over the weekend, with the Premier League club insisting on a more enticing £60 million asking price.
