Newcastle attempting to hijack Wolves’ bid for Portuguese star as Toon hold talks – Report

Portuguese winger Goncalo Guedes is the latest winger being linked with a summer move to St James’ Park.

On Saturday night, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano released the following quotes via Valencia boss Gennaro Gattuso: “The club told me they’ve received a huge proposal for Guedes from a Premier League club.”

Soon after, Italian journalist Gianluigi Longari revealed that both Newcastle and Wolves are interested in the 25-year-old, claiming the latter are close to agreeing personal terms with the Portugal international.

However, he also adds that Newcastle are ‘in direct talks’ with the player, suggesting we are trying to hijack Wolves’ move for the La Liga wide man – who can play down either flank or as a false nine.

Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo report that he’ll leave Valencia in the coming days after serious interest from a couple of ‘unnamed Premier League sides.’

There may be nothing in this, but with a few journalists now crediting us with interest following claims he’s on his way to the Premier League, this MIGHT just be a credible link based on his profile.

Guedes bagged 11 goals and six assists in 36 league appearances last season and has scored seven times in 32 outings for his country.
