Newcastle planning fresh bid for £35m winger if James Maddison stance continues – Report

According to The Chronicle, Newcastle could turn their attention back to Everton winger Anthony Gordon should Leicester’s James Maddison be unattainable.

Our initial bid for the 21-year-old, thought to have been around £35million, was rejected by the Toffees who valued the Academy graduate at a much higher price.

However, with the number of injuries piling up, Everton boss Frank Lampard may be forced to cash in on the talented attacker in order to redistribute the money throughout the squad.

Although we are yet to turn our back on the deal for James Maddison, it seems unlikely that the club would be willing to go much higher than our second bid – at around £40-£45m – to reach Leicester’s heft valuation, believed to be around £60m.

Eddie Howe has made it very clear that he would like to add to his squad in the coming weeks, but whether that will be in the form of the young Evertonian remains to be seen
